Ultimately, it is your parent(s) who will make the decisions about your education. I do not see where you are doing a whole lot to demonstrate your commitment although you are making some dire predictions based on - what? I do not think you can go to school part time because of the way funding is set up. You're either an enrolled student or not. I suggest you research virtual schools that are available in your state. They are public schools and you are considered enrolled and the cost is borne by the taxpayers. Research schools like K12, Connections, Insight and IQ Academy. As you research I'm sure you'll find others. As to your goal of becoming a police office, I suggest you find a police cadet program in your community. Sometimes they are run by the police, sometimes as part of scouting and sometimes out of local community colleges. My son washed police cars, swept floors, directed traffic, sold Christmas trees, things like that for both the police and fire departments in our community. Ask your local community's police department if they permit young people to volunteer. And you might want to think about some remedial English over the summer, too. Most book stores have remedial English workbooks that are self-learning in their reference sections. You may also find some for the police exams that would be a great help in your preparation for the future. good luck. Always nice when a young person has a goal.

I don't see why homeschooling would prevent you from being a police officer at all. homeschooling is actually quite "good for your brain" because there are less distractions like at school, and your at home teacher can give you the attention you deserve. try explaining this to your mom. i really hope i helped :)

I have a teenage son who has been homeschooled since 7th grade. He is currently in a Law Enforcement Explorer program. He will be taking some dual-credit classes at our local community college this fall and one of them is a Criminal Justice course. He has a couple of other homeschoolers in his Explorer program, along with kids from both public and Catholic high schools. Those homeschoolers are far from being "sheltered" from "real life"! My son plans on attending a university in our state that is known for their Criminal Justice programs. Given that, I don't see why your mom would think homeschooling would prevent you from being a police officer; I think if you choose your extra-curricular activities (and your curriculum) well, it will give you a head start, if not a significant advantage, to a career in law enforcement. Best wishes!
Research, lots of it, to see what homeschool methods and materials are out there. You need to build a solid case to your mother about how you can succeed. With your being 16 you can teach yourself everything, including math and Spanish. Mom does not need to be involved if she does not want to be. Since you need/want a job you could also offer to pay for some or all of it. Depending upon her real reasons for being against it you may get the go ahead if you present it properly. If your mom really is afraid of your "failing"(pretty hard you can't fail life) offer her some kind of trial period, proof that you really want to do things this way. If she is totally against anything do not worry about working while in school. Wait until school starts and talk to a school counsuler about the unreasonable pressure your mother is putting you under about working while going to school. Not everyone can work and do well in a reguler school setting. Education needs to come first right now. Presentation is everything. Good Luck.
