What's the difference between grain and seed?

What is the difference between a seed & a grain ?

  • Hi friends, Who knows the difference between a seed like(Beans, lupines, chickpea, lentil) & a grain like(Corn, wheat, rice) ? Appreciating all your answers

  • Answer:

It's been a while, but I believe that the "seeds" you listed are all dichotomous - they have two sides to them - while the "grains" only have one section of the seed. I can remember looking at corn and beans in science and looking at the differences, and that's what I remember. Another difference could be that what we call grain grows on various types of grass-like plants (I don't know if corn would fit this, but all other grain I can think of does) while beans and peas grow on vines of various kinds.
