How wet is the monsoon in July/August in South India?

India: Would december be a good time to visit India, or would the weather be generally lousy (monsoon, rains.)

  • I don't think I would want to go during the rainy season. Also, in your experience, which section of India would you suggest for a short "tourist" visit?.

    Good time. We were there in late November and it never rained. Hot, but not unbearable.

yea dont go during june-aug becasue thats the monsoon season...trust me we always ave to go during that time and we always get stuck and stuff.. may is extremly hot in india so if you like thehotness go in may. nov threw feb is a good time to indiaa

Yes, good. Mid Nov to Feb. And Jan is cold. Rainy season is through July and August and some Sept too. Depends upon what you 'd like to see. A short touristy trip could be just Agra and Rajasthan with Delhi as a base. Rajasthan State Tourism has Volvo coaches taking you to all these spots with decent accommodation at stops. Just google and you get them. Stay with Govt based trips and stay. I remember a trip from Delhi to Agra to Jaipur and further if you like. All sight seeing and stay included in the deals. Other placed could be just a leisurely Holiday in Kerela backwaters or Goa Beaches. Also google Incredible India.
