No warranty on a new Yamaha Receivers, should i buy the extended warranty?

  • No warranty on a new Yamaha Receivers, should i buy the extended warranty? I just purchased a Yamaha Receiver from an “NON- Yamaha's Authorized Dealer” and saved almost $400.00. ...show more

  • Answer:

It's like buying insurance. You try to figure out what the chances are that you're going to need it. Most receivers work pretty well for two or three years. If your warranty is not longer than that, it probably isn't going to pay off for you. I also bought a Yamaha DVD player from an unauthorized source and it has been fantastic. I didn't buy the warranty and it's been about a year now. A common problem is power surges caused by lightning or by larges surges by your electric provider and the warranty won't usually cover that anyhow.

usually they are ok and no warrantly needed. But some unauth retailers used to sell at discounted price the sets that were returned to him by other customers. so it is almost always better to buy from auth-dealer unless you want to risk
