Watching home movies on my video camera?

  • Answer:

most of today's consumer video gear is considered disposable, it is not design for multiple years of operation. probably the best option for preserving memories is to get a Passport type USB external Terabyte drive for your computer and transferring the files from the SD card and reusing the SD card. Burning to DVD is not a good idea because not only is that much lower resolution, DVD technology in general is nearly obsolete. TV displays are becoming "smarter" and most will be able to read video from USB storage devices directly or connect to a computer, back in the era of tape, both VHS and digital tape, the tape itself was so cheap that it was a good option for archival storage. that is still true, but the technology to support tape (ie players and TV sets) has changed to the point that i am now converting even my tape to portable terabyte computer drive at about the same price per hour of video.
