What is the best used pro camcorder I could get for under $1000?

Good luck finding any kind of used HD pro camcorder - they're too recent to be readily available. You might get lucky on ebay. I'd bypass the DVC20 because it records in standard definition rather than the HD everyone expects these days. True professional camcorders start in the $5000 range, and I'm not going to touch those. When doing my low-budget videos (wedding level) I prefer 2 of the smaller consumer handheld HD cameras, one on a tripod, one hand-held, along with a separate digital audio recorder. That's not going to work so well on a highly mobile target like a surfer.
