i live in and would strongly recommend woodland hills, ca. it is a district in west la. very safe envoirnment! apartment prices vary. my friends pay 800 for a 1 bed room, i pay 1500.00 for a 1 bed room and the place down the way from me cost 2200.00 for a 1 bedroom. it is clean and mins away from downtown via the 101! hope this helps!

The San Fernando Valley is nice, especiall west (Woodland Hills / Agoura Hills) or south of Ventura Boulevard ... The San Gabriel Valley is nice too (San Dimas, West Covina), or you could try Riverside County (Corona, Mira Loma, Norco)... or Orange County (Mission Viejo, Orange, Irvine) .... as a general rule, these out-lying areas of the LA Basin will be cheaper and safer than living in the actual city...

Lakewood, Cerritos, possibly Downey. If the suburbs arn't what you want then perhaps you should check out Los Angeles zip code 90048 or Miracle Mile. Of course, it all really depends on what a "good" price is for you.
