  • We need people who will call a local business and find out stuff like - current product inventory - current opening hours - current crowd etc. Doesn't matter where the call center is located at. However, the business that have to be called are all located in the US. So, if the call center is in India, they'll have to work through their nights.

It's common for low cost call centers to simply not pay their employees and/or not to forward tax withholdings to the government Legal - Check who owns the work-product and the IP, are your agents contract workers or on payroll? Communication - English skills, Cultural Differences Time Zone Difference - while it may be common in traditional call center locations to work night-shift, not all A-level workers are willing to work the night-shift. Self-Managed Team - You can't expect them to be an expert on your business from day one, but you can train the trainer and make it a self-managed team. Typically call centers cross-train 8-10% more than required to compensate for turn-over. Discount call centers won't do that. Great question. I wish I posted this when I started looking for call center order taking services for my business. Luckily, I read my email 8 months ago and found out about a convention for small businesses in Atlantic City. I took the two hour drive and found that the convention actually provided useful information instead of the usual key chains and t shirts. Good and cheap often dont go together when it comes to outsourcing although I guess it depends you definition of cheap. I tried the cheapest option I could find when I first started and it was a disaster. Language and time difference where two huge problems and it sounds like it could also be a problem for you. I would suggest looking to nearshore to Central/South America if I were you. It solves the language and time zone problem. Not to be crass but I think you would have more success in dealing with US companies with a more natural speaker.I personally went with Reps Direct (http://RepsDirect.com) as they speak perfect English and are located in CST. They cost me less than a US minimum wage worker and I couldn’t be happier but I encourage you to look around and find one you are comfortable with.
