What would be better a 2-ohm sub or a 4-ohm sub?

Wiring 4ohm sub to 2ohm amp?

  • Can you wire a a single 4 ohm sub in to 2 ohm on the amp and receive the 2 ohm rms? or can you only wire it 4ohm to 4 ohm on the amp? Also, can you wire a 2 ohm sub into 1 ohm? or ...show more

  • Answer:

No, the sub will receive only the power that the amp can output into 4 ohms. Your amp specs will normally show it's RMS output into various load impedances, down to the lowest impedance it is able to handle. Wiring a single 4 ohm sub into an amp that can operate into 2 ohms is perfectly OK. But the load is 4 ohms and whatever power the amp can deliver into that impedance is what the sub will receive.
