What are other Google websites?

What is more important for Ranking in Google. Your websites hosting location or the country you specify in Google Webmaster Tools for Search results?

  • I ask this as I am based in Ireland and in my experience to date the interface and customer service of Web Hosts I have used is poor, and I have been using the leading one... I would prefer to used a more professional host with c panel access in the UK. I can specify in Google Webmaster Tools what country I want to appear in Search Results for. My concern is that a site with an Irish .ie domian but a UK IP address from a  host in the UK will not rank as well in Google results as a similar site hosted in Ireland... Would registering the domains with an Irish host for sites hosted in the UK help? Anyone have any experience of this in the past?

    From my understanding, the location that is selected in webmaster tools overrides the domain TLD as well as the hosting location.
