how to get the distance between to points on earth in Swift?

Due to the curvature of the earth, on average what is the distance between two visible points?

if i remember correctly the earth curves at the rate of 8 inches per mile. so we need to know the height of the two visible points in order to arrive at an answer. or perhaps we need your height.
