What's the point in becoming an architect?

Whats the point in becoming a martial arts scholar these days?

  • i mean... MMA aside money aside fame aside

  • Answer:

To write books. To spread knowledge. To be a better martial artist. I live in the US, where nearly everyone owns a car. That's great, but auto mechanics are in high demand. They know more about cars than the average owner. A scholar is in demand for similar reasons.

Its up to u to decide whether MAs are worth it to u. Whats the point of becoming any kind of artist? There come a point in everyones lives where they ask themselves that question and its a question only u can answer. For me its to learn and understand as much as i can in studying my MA and hopefully one day i will find someone to pass on my knowlege to so he or she can learn what ive learned and add to that knowlege.

Well some people dedicate their lives to the knowledge of martial arts. Overall society is lacking virtues in this modern day in age. Who would of thought that we would be more ignorant as we got more advanced. With all this technology i expect more of us to be super smart. Either way martial arts will cultivate the morals of people. I remember someone telling me to look out for my flaws and improve every single one of them.

In the martial arts the actual term stems from, "You're a scholar and a gentleman." Which comes from being a Confucian scholar, one who studies the morality and the "golden rule" of common courtesies. In ancient times there were basically two types of martial artist, the uncouth, grunt warrior, bully and the noble, educated, literate, scholar. When you are helpful, considerate, benevolent and righteous... you display courtesies to those who are above and below your social standing in society. Consider yourself a Scholar and a Gentleman, some would also say a Scholar Warrior.

Hi there Im very selfish when it comes to my MA. I dont do it for any of the things you mentioned. Hell i cant think of anything worse that training for money, fame or MMA. I do it because i enjoy it. I'm not bothered about teaching or spreading the word etc. The day i stop loving it is the day ill stop training. Speaking from experience all the people ive come across that train for the reasons you mentioned are nearly always garbage at their chosen art and full of their own ****! Theres always a bigger pond with bigger fish in it! Self development is purly about the self. Everyones different. Best wishes idai

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." many military tactics come from sun tsu and his writing s on the art of war, as well as musashi's book of 5 rings both written centuries ago. the more you understand about the history the more you understand your style, mma for example, most of you people think it came from bruce lee, and he didnt. mma is only the latest term. before that in the 1950 through 80's it was called cross training. before that it was referred as being a general practitioner. there isnt one style of karate that isnt a combination of multiple styles.

It's similar to the importance of history courses taught within institutions, you have to be able to trace and have knowledge of the art's lineage, concepts, and philosophy.

Practicing MMA is a way of life. It benefits society and spreads culture. Every martial art is different.. You would have to practice them to understand.. Ancient Martial Arts were created by their people(creaters) for use in war. Boxing + Wrestling (Pankration) Judo (Was made for japanese police for Self-defense) Sambo (Self-defense) Karate (self-defense) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Chinese replica of Japanese Jiu-Jutsu) You catch my drift..
