They are the same thing. Infrared auditing is a tough business to get into. And with the price of thermal imagers coming down, more and more businesses are doing thermal inspections in-house. I have a Mikron 7815, which I use for residential audits. For residential audits you need a very sensitive camera that can distinguish temperature differences less than 0.1C.
