Answer:
Tidying up the small garden is easy - a quick job, wouldn't cost too much. The lawn, especially if it needs to be re-laid is a very pricey endevour. I recommend calling and getting estimates from several landscapers. Then you'll have a much better feel for the going rate for work like that in your area.

I know a gardener who asks 10 quid an hour and if you are paying cash in hand that would be correct but make sure they give you an estimate and that they do not take weeks and rob you ?clear all and get turf? a few hours 3 times a week to get it all done then once a fortnight there after to keep it right why don't you get a few raised beds and this the veg patch you could maintain your self save your back from stooping and would give you pleasure as its done in the past ,spend your money as you cant take it with you and make life easy for you and still lets you Enjoy your garden!

are you sure your garden is that small?..that's less than 7 ft long by 8 ft wide ..in uk most gardeners only charge £10 per hour ..i could get half a dozen tomorow if i needed them at that rate

Expect to pay a gardener around £20 per hour if they supply all their own equipment. A bit less for a odd job man not paying tax or any liability insurance.

It depends on where you live to be honest, if you live in an expensive area then youll pay through the nose but if its just a normal working class area then getting someone in full time would be a good way of doing it maybe a retired man who likes gardening or if your cheeky enough then ask at a loval gardening centre or college if they have students at the moment doing studies on gardening and if they have then offer your garden as a template for them while adding your own requests for certain areas but you might have to let them do what they want to a degree with the rest of it but im sure they wont trash the place as itll help towards there degree

Depending on where you live, on average the labor would be starting at $40 to $75 an hour. Could be much more in the bigger cities.
