  • Answer:

Okay, you can become an RN with either an Associate Degree or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Those are actual college degrees and are earned at accredited colleges or universities. A Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) is a year-long program in basic nursing. An LPN/LVN works under the direct supervision of an RN in the hospital/nursing home setting or a Physician in the office setting. While a Nurse (RN ) can become a doctor, it's not the best degree (BSN) to have for applying to medical school. It lacks the higher math and science needed for admission and the knowledge to score well on the MCAT. If you are wanting to become an RN and then eventually become a Nurse Practitioner, you should get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, several years primary care nursing (bedside care) experience in the area you want to practice in, and then apply to a Nurse Practitioner program.
