  i have friends who are lab techs. one tests samples for disease for the state health department and the other tests very specific samples for diagnostics at a major hospital. both of them spend a lot of time behind microscopes. they both work with cool equipment and do science-y things. both of them are interesting people with real lives outside the lab, and both of them enjoy most of their work. expect to need a long attention span and attention to detail.
