How to become a CNA in the US?

How old do you have to be to become an LPN or CNA?

  • I turn 17 in october and i cant find a regular teen job. I want to know how old you have to be to become a CNA or LPN. I see teens in scrubs all the time and was wondering.

  • Answer:

You need to be at least 18 to be a CNA and an LPN needs a year of school after you have a high school diploma (or GED) so most LPN's are usually older than 19 or 20. Many of these teens in scrubs may be doing externships for things like Nursing Assistant (CNA), dental assisting, or medical assistanting through a vocational school or may be part of a "health care career exploring" program through their high school. Hope that helps!
