Can I be a LVN after I get my EMT?

If I get licensed as an EMT over the summer, can I then go on to work as an EMT?

  • I'll be 19 this summer and I want to do the EMT training. The next summer will I be able to get a job as an EMT and get to work with patients, as in clinical/hands on training? ...show more

  • Answer:

I think so. Check out the ambulance companies in the larger cities. In fact talk to the managers of companies near your home about summer intern work. They may not hire you at first as a EMT, but as a paramedic. But you do gain experience, and you get to drive a lumber wagon with flashing lights.
