Is it beneficial to become a CNA before becoming an RN?

Does one need to become an LPN before becoming a RN?

  • I need 2 years of clinical experience before becoming a PA and thought that by becoming a RN I would satisfy the requirement.

  • Answer:

No. An LPN CAN take additional coursework and become an RN, but most RN's don't do it that way. And a PA is different from an RN and has different requirements. Each state has different licensing requirements for each. Becoming an RN doesn't make you eligible for a PA license.

You do not need to become an LPN to become an RN. However if you work for a hospital as an LPN already, I heard that those hospitals are likely to hire you as an RN when you become an RN. But it is not needed.

No. But you should consult with your state licensing board.
