    MA's do not get paid very much. A little over minimum wage, if that. I wouldn't waste your time. If you do want to start somewhere, try CNA. They get paid a bit better. Or, if you can, go straight to LVN. If you live in California, in the central valley, around Fresno, an LVN will get around 15 dollars an hour, maybe up to 21 if you work at the right nursing home. If you go to work for the prison system, you will be making around 4300 per month, not including overtime. If you get your RN and work for the prison, 109,000 per year, not including overtime.
