Can you become a software developer with a chemical engineering degree?

    Can you? Sure if you are dedicated and teach yourself computer/software development. However, the odds of finding a job are against you unless you go back to school and get the developer's degree or at least a certification. CE does not train you to be a developer and you would be competing with folks who have the proper formal education/degree as well as folks who have the experience. Here's the common sense question, if you were an HR person and you had 50 applications for a software developer's job and 49 of them had degrees in software and 1 had a CE degree, and could only send 10 applications on to be considered, would one of those applications be the guy with the CE degree? (Me, not so much)
