Best way to ignore ciggeratte cravings?

  • I quit smoking today, is there any techniques or anything I can possibly do to ignore the cravings, and weight gain. I am 25 and have been smoking a pack a day for 9 years now.

    See your Doctor! Have him prescribe "chantix" for you. I was a smoker for nearly 50 years! Tried everything! Patches, Zyban, inhalers, gum, hypnotherapy, and most anything else you could come up with and was totally unsuccessful, until I did the Chantix! I've been smoke free since July 31, 2007! I might add that it is very expensive, if your insurance doesn't cover some of the cost.

do it slowly ... first dont smoke for a day , then in a wile for 2 days and so on , until you can stop smoking for a week... so you can decide if you want to start smoking again... worked fine with me

Take a brisk walk for ten mins. Brush your teeth (so you won't want to mix the taste). Do something for ten minutes or tell yourself to wait ten minutes and see if you still want to smoke. Your craving will hopefully subside by then.

good luck I have failed several times. The only way I can apparently quit smoking is to get pregnant. But I then start up again soon after baby arrives. I wish I knew what it was that enables me to quit cold turkey when pregnant without cravings. Again, good luck.

If you keep telling yourself you can have one in a minute or when you are done with whatever task you are on. That way, you aren't denying yourself, you are just postponing it. Although you never get to have it. It helped me anyway. Also I pseudo smoke. When I'm around my friends I just hold an unlit cigarette.

I heard that you should chew on raw carrots or celery sticks...this way you got the physical cravings covered......take a brisk walk and or do deep breathing to work out the mental cravings...have you tried hypnosis? I heard that works for some.......
