Why does Google.com not comeup as a search result when searching the term "Search" on Google?

Bing doesn't show up also when you type search

It does show up: A tougher question here is, why isn't it first result? I think the search result's description (where it mentions robots.txt) is a hint. Note that there is no description of the Google Search Engine. Conducting the same search on Yahoo on the other hand shows a description of the Google Search Engine: You're right - Google is masking itself, or at least making itself less significant in its own search results. There could be many reasons - You're already using it, it doesn't want to show off, or it could be trying to prevent recursiveness for its crawlers, automation testers, or even hackers to conduct DDoS attacks.

I would assume that since Google attempts to rate results by relevancy, http://Google.com is the most irrelevant result being that you are already on the site!

Its evasion. Lawmakers aren't very happy with the fact that the most powerful advertising vessel in the world can put itself in time square (so to speak) whenever it feels like it. Can't remember if they got sued for it or not but I know it was a big issue around early to mid 2013.

I think it seems redundant to display a Google entry on it since you're using it. And, for Google, there's no need to seize every single chance to propagandize itself.
