I would like some information.

What specific information/feedback would restaurant owners like from their customers?

• 1. If you could ask every customer that  goes to your place about their experience in your restaurant, what information would you want to know? What information would help you to provide better service? Would you want to know if they liked the food, the waiter, the hostess, the ambiance? 2. What information would you like to know about your customer so you  can proactively make a difference? Their birthday? Special Occasion? If  they like your specials? Would a coupon incentivize them to go back? Would they recommend your restaurant to others?

  I don't own a restaurant, but you've opened a window for one of my favorite peeves.  I don't need to ask the restaurant to make my favorite food, but sometimes and in some places, I'd like to give the house some feedback on their menu. I often have a tough time finding anything on the menu that I can/will/want to eat.  I'm lactose intolerant.  I try to avoid the most wretched excesses of fat and calories.  I hate going into a restaurant to find (on a bitterly cold winter's day) that all (two or three) soups are cream soups, or that every dinner entree (or every pasta sauce in an Italian place, for example) is made with cheese or cream.  I know that if I ask for a piece of meat or fish, cooked simply without the sauce or dairy products, it may or may not be possible, it's going to create problems (especially if the kitchen is really busy) and it might well not come out as what I ordered.  At present, the only feedback I can give the owner or executive chef is a poor review and a diversion of future business to other places.
