The reason Facebook is addicting is because it lets arrogant people brag about their life without being told to shut up, and it lets unconfident people become whatever they want to be, because you suddenly have hundreds of "friends", you can take photos of how you want to look rather than what you really look like and photoshop them to make you look better and post status' that makes you look like you have a great life. None of it is real, the sooner you realise that the less appealing facebook becomes. Use it for what it was meant for, occasional logging on, events, networking and keeping touch, don't use it for gaming, and posting more photos than you need, or updating your status constantly, that is when it becomes a waste of life

I also have a similar porb.. What i did, i bcam very strict with my self... and i turn it offf... completely... just to chek upd8's etc... and putting up what i am doing... thing was, it started to take xxtra time from my life.. life gets imbalanced when you start to abuse ur tym or use it excessively then u r supposed to ... So be strict with ur self..

Switch off your computer, limit yourself to 1 hour per day and stick to the rule. Get out, find a hobby, take some exercise that way you will meet people and have a real social life not a cyber one. I had a facebook account but realised half the people on there I hadn't seen since high school and I couldn't care less about them so I deactivated my account. Even the "friends" who have my email haven't bothered to email me and see if I'm OK. Shows how much you are missed if you go. Try and make the break.

I had the same problem. Became hard when I started working and would jump on every so often. I know I needed to stop, so I deleted all my friends, and put my account on hold. If thats too extreme, you can try downloading a website blocker to restrict times/days you can use it. If you use firefox, look up leach block.

There's nothing wrong with spending hours on facebook. If you're anti social, let's take it into consideration like so. 6 hours on facebook V 6 hours watching TV V 6 hours reading a magazine. So if you're anti social, and facebook just helps you pass the time, then it's all relevant really. The problem lies in IF you are turning down real life opportunities for facebook. If a friend asks you out, and you tell them "no, sorry, I have some plans tonight. I'm going to finish some work and call it an early night" and instead stay on facebook all night, then it's a problem. Facebook is a social networking site, so in some forms, you should be SOCIAL if you are using it, unless you just sit around and play the shitty apps all day. Anyway, if you're still worried about it, just take baby steps. If you think you're addicted to facebook, and decide to start walking 6 hours a day to fill that void, although a healthier choice, you aren't fixing the problem. (I understand this is a good thing, but I'm talking mentally for you personally) Whenever I feel as if I spend too much time on the computer, I call up a few buddys, and try to do something fun. Perhaps take a photography trip somewhere local, or something as easy as go see a movie. I'm not sure how old you are, but outside of high school, being social is not the same as it was in school. Anyway, sorry for the horrendous typing. I know I must have used over 1000 commas already, but I'm about ready yo head out, and wanted to type this up first :]
