  • Answer:

go to control panel >add remove programs. it takes a few secs to load find Windows live messenger click and click support. this will tell you the version it is. If you dont like it then uninstall it Go to filehippo.com Type messenger in the search on the RHS. open the windows live messenger result. The very latest one is on the top, but all the old ones are listed underneath. I think Beta ones are for vista, but 8.5 is the 4th one down. always best to chose Save and then install from the save rather than install over the net.

Messenger Plus Live, I think this what you're looking for? You can get from the following link: http://www.msgpluslive.net/ Try restarting the computer as installing and see if that helps? If not, perhaps try installing from Safe Mode with Networking and see if that works. (Tap your F8 key when turning on computer and before Windows logo appears to get boot-menu, then try Safe Mode with Networking, then install your program from that mode). To get rid of the old msn messenger, it can be difficult because it's tied into Windows. Just disable it for now.
