How to keep track of my brothers msn chat logs?

You shouldn't spy on him...you should just talk to him!!

Advice: DON'T. The reason? What if your brother obtained all of YOUR chats with your friends, and read them all? If you are really a good brother, you should be able to talk to him about it.

Use the regedit method above, or, Go into your messenger options, under "messages" there is an option that is for chat logging. See which directory that points to on the computer. you can read the logs there if it's enabled. If it's not enabled, turn it on. Now, that will let you read them once, but if you want to access them from your computer, you'll need to go up one directory from there... right click on the folder, and share it... you may need to set permissions in the share so that you or "everyone" has read access... Then you should be able to go start -> run \\hiscomputername\ on your computer, and see the folder... This assumes you're networked. Installing a keylogger or trojan like has been suggested above is a little bit heavy-handed for this operation. Your brother will likely never notice a shared folder of his chat logs. You can do this with AIM, MSN, etc... a keylogger will show up if he ever runs a virus scan, so... go with the "enable logging" and "share folder" trick.

Honestly, you sound somewhat like an old pervert looking for computer info on how to track kids' chat logs. But, I won't judge, because you may actually be authentic. Installing a keylogger would get you a whole lot more than just his chat logs... or, you could learn some computer skills and hack it. I don't recommend confronting him about it like some of these mindless people are saying; that will just make him want to rebel (like 13-year-olds do). Just make sure you're a good influence on him and set a positive example. Now, if he's caught actually doing something like smoking marijuana, it may be time to have a talk.

get a key logger or enable saving the chat history but you would have to be logged in to his account to do that
