How can I add an icon to the desktop so I can get to a certain web site instantly?

    Go to the address bar of the site. place your cursor on the icon in the address bar , left click and without releasing ,pull the icon into your desktop. release your click and the icon will be there for future use.

why not just put it onto your ie tool bar? as a quick link? to do so> right click on tool bar in an empty area, then remove the little check mark next to lock toolbar. next go to the site you wish to put as quick link when the site is loaded, put your mouse pointer on the browser bar where the name is showing ( EXAMPLE) http://www. the thing i want to make a link to.com. at this point you press and hold the left mouse button down while draggin it to the tool bar on an empty space and POOF YOU GOT A QUICK LINK then right click empty spot on tool bar again and replace the check mark next to lock the toolbar THATS IT NO MAGIC ALL DONE ENJOY ~
