How long should my twin tip skis be?

  • I am 5' 10 and 165lbs and just bought 179cm K2 Silencers and the next size down is 169 (which seemed a little small.) Wondering if i should stick with the 179 or switch to 169?

  • Answer:

to the top of your head, usually its between your nose and mouth but when you think how much extra is curled up, you want longer skis

Really it comes down to what kind of skiing you want to be doing. If you planning to be skiing more all mountain and really want an edge to hold then the longer skis are better. If you want to be able to spin quick on and off rail and little jumps the shorter skis are better. I'm 6' 2 and i have a pair of 166 Chronics that i use for park but i can still rip the mountain with.

If your in the park alot (with twin tip skis thats a no duh question) or are into moguls, or are just learning, i would go with the 169, because length gets in your way in the park. If your into powder skiing, racing, speed, ect, i would stick with the 179's.
