How to Advertise my Online Boutique for free?

I am a manageress of a boutique, what is the best possible way to advertise?

  • it cant cost much money.....i was thinking on the lines of magazines if so how do i make it sound there worth while in putting this boutique in there editions???? help

  • Answer:

Try a promotion or special offer or something like it, get in touch with the local newspaper, some will run an article on your shop for no fee - are you a new manageress?? do you have a special discount for certain customers?? Think up something novel and get in touch with the paper - they love stuff that's local to fill their papers. You may even get your picture in the paper too, along with your boutique! Good luck!

The best advertising costs nothing. You can achieve this by putting yourself in the news. Perhaps link up with a local school, invite any girls who want to do modelling to put on a fashion show of your garments, then invite a few dignitaries and the local press, radio, TV etc. Whenever a fashion issue arises in the press, write a letter to the editor for publication. Give local dress designers a chance to exhibit their creations in you boutique, and then get this in the local press. Whenever there is a local carnival or other event, make sure you boutique is represented there in some way. I am sure you get the general picture. It is a matter of using your imagination and seeing it through. It is called good public relations. Go for it.

invite all the relevant people in magazines/ other press to come to your shop to see your new range - offer them incentives like free wine/ champagne. Hopefully they will come and then review your shop. Alternatively organise an event for the public to celebrate something - shop redesign, new fashion range, something new - and promise free wine and a discount for all items bought on that day. Send out a press release giving details of the event and hope that the press pick up the event and mention it for you.

The real way is great customer service and looking after your existing customers, encouraging them to spend more or buy more frequently. Fashion shows etc are all great low cost ways that you can confirm have worked or not quickly and easily. Maybe offer an incentive to existing customers to encourage them to introduce-a-friend (exclusive fashion preview evening etc). Maybe speak with local employees about special events (exclusive showing) for them. General advertising really would be my last resort as it goes againt the branding of yourself as a boutique. Have fun, good luck

The first question is how is your market and where are they? Is it north america? the states? local town? everyone within a 10 mile radius? You select strategy based on that. A lawn sign on the road outside the shop would probably bring in more visitors than a print ad.

Advertise in your local newspaper !!You can also buy yourself some business cards and start handing them out !! Anytime you have a business there is cost involved but this would be your cheapest way !! You have to get the word out !! To put it in a magazine would cost alot of money !!

in answer to your question most magazines and newspapers will give youall the advertising space you need because they charge for it... It just depends on what your target customer is and whether they read the publication - a small ad can cost between 35 pounds + VAT

"manageress of a boutique" << why you want to advertise in a magazine(it is expensive)? it not going to attract people to buy your goods. I think you can give out flyer to people in the street. Also your item must be unique that they can't buy it anywhere with that price.

I would try local things first. Like the amature dramatics society and local pantomime society will have a programme for their productions. Try asking for advertising in there. Wont cost as much.. Also contact your local newpaper and advertise a boutique evening where you can put on a catwalk show or something.
