When you mention directory, I think "directory script" http://www.google.com/search?q=directory+script When you talk about community, that suggests one of the community scripts. Joomlah is a free download, but maybe you would prefer this one: http://www.boonex.com/dolphin/ I'd try playing around with the free downloads, and see what I could do with them before puttting real money into them... but it's your dime. You do know that google provides a search function for your site if you sign up for adsense... Don't even have to put any ads on your page... just the search code... the ads show up on the results page, and nowhere else.
