  Max, Both sources are valid, however that is too general a question in my opinion because both could be very effective if done right. Conversely, many people end up with a whooping advertising bill with very little to show for it. But, that said, google adwords is the big kahuna in this game. And, there is more competition amongst the other advertiser because of the traffic google can potentially deliver. If you choose adwords, then you will need to get knowledgeable about the array of choices they have. At the most fundamental level is whether you want to be only on their "search" network or their "content" network or both. Most people start with a search only, but their is a lot of merit to the content network in that you can literally pick the websites you want to display your ads. Unless you are willing to really get into this topic and learn as much as possible, I would advise that you start writing articles and submitting them to article directories with a couple of links aimed back to your site. If you will commit to writing a steady of flow, you will start rising in the search engines naturally. Also, if you make some very basic videos and submit them to places like youtube, you will do even better. Just put your site's web address in the description and watermark it in your video. Use tubemogul to distribute for free...last time I checked. But if you want to learn about pay per click advertising, I would suggest you check out the books written by Perry Marshall. He is a master. Going in blind is sure to be a costly education...I know.
