How to advertise games?

How much will it cost to advertise in social games like The Sims Social?

  • Just like what Dove, Toyota, and Dunkin Donuts did.

  • Answer:

It will probably cost you an Arm, Leg, and your First Born! In all seriousness, it would depend on the number of items you have in the shop, whether or not these items link back to an external web site, etc... I guess for a simple item to increase awareness of your brand you would be looking at a standard CPM rate, which will vary depending on where the locale of the players you are advertising to is. If, however, you are going to be including external links, then expect to pay on both a CPM a CPC basis and for desired traffic this could amount at over $1 a click. The reason I hypothesise this would be so expensive, is because as a general rule of thumb social games want to keep all traffic inside their game, as it costs quite a lot to get them there in the first place. I imagine, you can get a good discount if you advertise only to the players who the company has determined will not monetize well (because it doesn't fit into their high monetizable players demographic), for these, a CPC only rate would suffice. Of course, if someone from EA wants to share real numbers of how much these companies paid, you will get a better idea. However, expect them to vary a lot, I highly presume that the quote depends a lot on your specifications for the campaign.
