There are some books you can use to learn French, but your best bet would be an online course (or CD/DVD-ROM based course). My suggestions (in no particular order): Monarch by AOP or Ignitia Mango Languages *Really good, they have lots of languages* Fluenz (created by Harvard students) National Connections Academy French I-IV University of Miami French I-AP French Language K12 French I-AP Language I wouldn't go with Rosetta Stone -- it doesn't teach grammar. And if you ever wanted to take French in college, you'd be severely behind the other students. Homeschooling yourself in 8th grade is a big deal... have you looked at your state's homeschooling laws? Have you thought about what curriculum (for core and elective courses) you'd use? Grading scale/transcripts? Attendance records? Have you looked in charter schools? If your parents can't be completely involved in homeschooling, they're your best bet. They're online public schools, so if you do decide to go back to brick and mortar school, you've basically gotten the same education as everyone else your age.
