Where can I apply to teach online?

Where can I apply if I want to teach in a government funded or managed preschool?

  • I want to teach in a preschool (QC) being operated by the government. I have an MA in Child Development and I would like to put that into good use.

  • Answer:

I currently work in a Head Start program, which is federally funded preschool program for 'at risk' children. They offer 'Early Head Start' (babies and toddlers), and 'Preschool Head Start' (ages 3-5). I have a Master's degree in Special Education, and I enjoy working for Head Start b/c there is less "take home" work than there would be at a district job or other preschools, especially for special education. However, the downside of working for government funded schools is that when education is not on the top of the politicans' list for improvements/money, then the funding is cut and it results in no raises (not even cost of living raises, only a 1% increase, and we didn't get that last year and we are looking at the same this year), and program cuts (we are looking at a possible "extended" summer break, to cut down operating costs for the program). I would suggest that you look at ALL your options, and the pros and cons of each. Good luck!
