Answer:
Even after deleting the data, it still remain on the hard drive. It is just flagged by the OS and for recovering data there are few commercial software available. and also you can do it by DOS where you can find the particular sector and modify it.

Hard-disk and removable-disk has sectors and clusters from which they r made of. When any file is deleted permanently it get stored in fragmented form which can result in crashes if hard-disk is more fragmented. So some s/w like recuva and tool-star file recovery can still recover those deleted files by scanning on those sectors and clusters-takes more time 2 scan than sectors. So we defragment our partitions so as 2 gain those free spaces and save it from crashes. While defragmenting red portions r fragmented data. To defrag--right click on any of ur drive-propeties-tools-defragment.

Yes it is still on your computer waiting for some data to replace that "deleted" data. You can use a file recovery tool to get back the deleted file.

You basically want to know whether a file deleted permanently from computer hard disk is still present there. Answer is "yes", but chances of it being recovered using recovery software decreases every minute you keep on using the computer. When you delete a file permanently it is marked as deleted by the Operating System, and the space on disk occupied by the deleted file is added to free space pool. This pool is used for writing newer data and hence the deleted file ultimately gets "erased" either fully or in parts depending on new file size/free space map. To delete a file without a trace, one has to use file shredding software that are available aplenty on internet. To recover a file accidentally deleted from system drive/partition of your computer, you have to immediately switch off the computer, take out the hard disk and put it into another computer as additional disk. Install a file recovery software on the new computer and recover your file from your disk. If your computer's OS has not written something over the space that belonged to deleted file, you will get you file. If deleted file was on some partition other than system partition, then you can install recovery software on your computer itself, but be careful that nothing is written to the partition on which your file resided.
