  First thing you want to figure out is what you are going to be using it for and what the local rules and regs are for your area. In Idaho, you are only supposed to have one person at a time on your ATV when trail riding. Even my four yr old has his own. If you are just wanting to ride around in your yard or whatever, look for a basic model that isn't out of your price range, adding in the cost for repairs if you don't know how to work on it (which I assume you don't have much experience with because you are asking for advice). Honda, Kawasaki, and Polaris are all dependable names but it is a machine so they have to be taken care of.
