What do you think about Early Colleges?

What do NSITians think about students from government engineering colleges like IIIT Delhi, Jamia Millia, and  IGIT?

  • This question is all the more relevant now that all 3 of the above colleges are improving with respect to on-campus placements. Their placements are in fact better than several branches of NSIT like MPAE and BT.  Also, an equal number of students had been selected for Google Summer of Code - 2012 from these 4 colleges.

I wish we had all that time left in the world to "think" about even fellow NSITians let alone students from other colleges. When you were preparing for IIT-JEE(assuming you are in an engg college now),did you spend time thinking about students from other coaching institutions or were you just locked up in your room, oblivious to other things, working hard or simply working , day in and day out hoping for some success after certain amount of time? Hope you got my point :-)

With all due respect to all the colleges, this is how I believe NSITians think about different colleges, whenever they have time to think:IIIT Delhi - "yes, we know them, they operated out of our library. Not sure what exactly the extra I stands for (International, Indraprastha, or Information?), but they seem to have some good faculty. But the students there are desperate for recognition for their college, and have a lot of time to spend on Quora"Jamia Milia - "Don't know enough"IGIT - "Good IP college, love to have them at our fests, but that's about it"It is not true that the placements for NSIT MPAE, or NSIT BT are not as good. All NSIT students have great opportunities, just because of the sheer number of companies that visit the campus (almost 200 companies every year). Also, the brand value helps even after graduation. This way, you could argue that placements of some branches at IIT Delhi are not as good either, but that doesn't mean Jamia is comparable to IIT Delhi. Majority of NSITians have infact left one or the other branch at one or the other IIT to be in NSIT.Also, the quality of students at NSIT has been far better (if we consider only the academics and entrance examinations) over the years, and hence, has a lot of alumni in great places in the industry. Also, the alumni is doing pretty well because hardly any NSITian has not had a job offer from campus placements in the 30 odd years of NSIT's existence. This can only be built over time. In the 80s, Delhi Institute of Technology (NSIT) was considered better than IIT Delhi and DCE (now DTU) for the new branches. So, there's a lot of history, that cannot be made up only by improving placement stats.NSIT is only going get better with Delhi Govt. focus:
