Would the Bass Pro Shops extreme baitcast reel good for Louisiana inshore fishing?

  • I want to buy a new fishing reel for redfish and specked trout fishing and also for bass fishing. Would the BPS extreme baitcast reel be a good choice?

    those are a pretty good reel for the price. I use a couple on my bass poles and I'm pretty sure they could handle a redfish. Don't know much about trout. So, I can't comment on them

Yes, it would work fine for your purposes. Since it isn't made for Saltwater, you will need to wash the salt off of it's exterior and then spray it lightly with the water hose after EVERY Saltwater trip. If not, the reel will quickly corrode and will be useless. If you'd like, wait until the reel goes on-sale for $59.99. They frequently do this and for $59.99 it's a good deal. When this happens, their Pro Qualifier reels also lower to $79.99, the same as the Extreme's are at full price. You could always get a Pro Qualifier on-sale for the same price as the Extreme not on-sale, and it would be a heck of a reel as well.

i have two extreme combos and for the money i never owned anything better. of course a 300 dollar combo is better, but for 120 bucks you cant beat the extreme combo.
