Does In Vitro Fertilization hurt?

Is it right for a lesbian couple to have test tube baby (in vitro fertilization)?

  • Answer:

I think we've all heard of IVF I think that any woman in a stable environment should be allowed to get pregnant via IVF if she so chooses. Nadya Octomom was treated with IVF when she was single and already had six children. That, I think, should have raised far more ethical concerns than if a woman wanted to raise a single child with a same sex partner.

Yes. Lots of kids grow up without father figures and they turn out fine. A mother isn't just a biological incubator. Nor is a father exactly a sperm donor. It's all about who sticks with the kid and raises it. Children need stable environments (at first?) and a loving, supportive family.

just curious because youve posted other places what is your deal about being against ivf? I mean if you don't agree with it doesnt mean you should be against others getting it done. You obviously havent had to deal with infertility before so don't knock something because you never know when it can happen to you.

If they can afford it, why not. It is the women's right to have children if she wants to and use whatever science can offer to help her do that (meds, IUI, IVF, etc.). Even if she was single, she still has the right to have children. Lesbian or not is irrelevant.

and then the egg is place inside one of the women right. i think this is a great, a baby does need 2 loving and supportive parents, why cant that be 2 women or 2 men. with all the fathers that run out of the mothers out there i cant see how people can be against a gay couple having a baby when they actually have the longer lasting relationships (statistically) i have a gay friend (male) and ive already offered myself to carry his baby for him and his future partner if they decide to have a baby. i think its a beautiful making a loving family, no matter the sex of the parents

If u r a lesbian none of the people on this website know u or ur partner r so who is anyone 2 judge the way u decide 2 conceive and start a family.

*I* believe that 2 women or 2 men (and a surrogate mother) should be able to have a child together if they so choose. BUT most of the time IVF is over-kill. Intrauterine Insemination would be suffice for a normal healthy, lesbian couple.
