NO! You need to hurry and call your local board of health,as bats found on the ground are often rabid or have something else wrong with them. They will check the bat for rabies and if it is found to be rabid,you will have to have anti-rabies shots. Hurry,you have 10 days before you could start showing symptoms if you've been exposed.

okay it's odd and stupid to do so but if you had to keep it (though if it has rabies it won't live long) it will be dificult and probably illegal(depending on the species of bat, and where you live) . a large (think closet-sized) small-mesh cage will be required, in a room that is dark practically all day. depending on the type of bat (which will require identification) it may be difficult to feed. the room will also have to be crazy warm, and the bat won't be very happy (or healthy) without its roost. when bats are kept, it's usually to rehabilitate them. you'd need alot of experience and finances to care for one, not to mention the planning neccesarry. not a fun pet, I'm afraid.

First off, check if its legal to have a bat as a pet, then take it to a vet to get it checked up. Wild animals are not suggested as pets and should be returned to the wild. Ask your vet, and see if there are any places that can take the bat and care for it till it seems ready to return back to the wild.
