How old do ferrets live to be?

  • I just got 2 ferrets, there 3 years old..there pretty small though.. How old does the average ferret live to be? Thanks.

    Ferrets can live until they are 16 ,11 and even 10 it is rare they live to be 16 but it has been recorded As long as you give them plenty of freedom and good food and keep vet app every yr or sooner if adrenal Males start having heart problems after 3yrs so please have your male check a whole abc panel done to rule out heart problems and other cancers and you can not really tell if adrenal by blood test but if they become adrenal lupron and melatonin injections are necessary hair loss on tail and between shoulder blades are adrenal signs also hair loss on tail can be rat tail which are mites and excessive dirt an oil a black head wash that washes off will help but I had to shave my dews tail and use the wash for hers to go away it wouldn't go away just by scrubbing it with wash

the average ferret lives five to seven years but if you keep them really healthy they could probably go for ayear or maybe to more than that your ferrets will live at least 2 more years

Ferrets usually live from 6-9 years. I don't think you have to worry about your ferret dying yet. Just make sure they get annual rabies shots, occasional check ups (to make sure they're doing good). A bath every couple weeks. And they also should get their ears cleaned out and their teeth cleaned every other day.

Recorded life span: 7-13 years IF the ferret is a healthy ferret that doesn't develop any of the major ferret illnesses.

Mine died at 11 yrs old, the average life span is about 10 yrs though. I wish long life for them and happy memories for you all! :)
