Dolby digital to dolby pro logic surround?

Does Dolby Pro Logic Produce Surround sound?

  • My stereo has Dolby Pro Logic, not II , just Dolby Pro Logic.....Will i get any type of surround sound from it? Will it sound OK? Thanks.

  • Answer:

Actually No. Dolby Pro Logic is simulated surround sound. Dolby Pro Logic Splits up the two sides of the stereo signal and slightly modifies it to produce a better sounding piece of music or movie sound. True surround sound utilizes more channels usually 6 or more split up individually and amplified to produce the sounds more realistically! Note that the surround speakers have a type of time delay on them to produce realistic explosions and such! Why 6 or more? 5.1 = Front, front Left (stereo), Front Right (stereo), Right side surround, left side surround, and the sub-woofer! Sub = ".1" Hope This Helps!
