  How do you plan to power the car stereo in the house? Are you planning on bringing in a car battery and a charger for it? The problem is that most car audio guys are totally unaware of what's available for home audio. They see all the cheap PC speakers and the cheap low end home theatre systems in Best Buy and they think that's all that's available for home audio. The truth is that there is a lot bigger more powerful equipment available for home than any car audio system. There are those on yahoo who would have you remain unaware of what's possible and make negative remarks at responses that offer insight as to what's possible but that's their issue. Shaking your house requires large subwoofer(s). Multiple large driver systems is a great way to get a lot of low end capability with lower distortion. Car amplifiers just can't be effectively used in the house. Car woofers are designed with heavier cones and stiffer suspensions than home woofers. You will get a lot of responses about impedance but most home subwoofer plate amplifiers are designed for 4 ohms so this generally isn't the problem. Car woofers have a lot of room gain advantage inside a car that they do not have in a room in your house. They are designed to operate in very small boxes and count on the room gain to obtain low frequency response. Place them in a room and they will not play very low at all without a lot of EQ.
