Can I put tv shows from my DVR onto my computer?

  There are a couple of ways and it depends on what kind of DVR you have (ie:Tivo, DirecTV Tivo, DirecTV DVR, Etc.) and what kind of hardware you have or need on your PC or Laptop. Okay the easiest way would be to buy a TV Tuner Capture card for a PC or a PCMCIA TV Tuner card for a Laptop. These devices usualy come with software to capture from your VCR, TV, Video Camera, Etc. and saves it in AVI or mpeg formats. To capture these from the DVR you would need to connect the DVR to the TV Tuner via a coaxial cable, RCA Audio/video cables, or S-Video and RCA audio cables. These capture cards can be found at most electronic computer stores or auction sites. To capture the video from the DVr it would take as long as the show is to capture it onto your hard drive. Second is that if you have a Tivo you can connect a USB ethernet adapter to it and run an ethernet cable (cat5 or cat6) from it to your home network router/ wireless router. Then you can take the shows files and transfer them onto you PC in about 10-15 per show. If you have a DirecTV Tivo you can do the same but you would need to upgrade the software with other software from DVRupgrade.com and purchase InstantCake and PTVnet. Then add some more software to unencrypt the shows/movies so that you can download the files as you would with the Tivo brand onto your PC/Laptop. Hope this is what you are looking for.
