  • Answer:

Your best bet is to upgrade your video card. A video card with DVI-out will work. These can be connected to an HDMI-equipped TV using a DVI-to-HDMI cable, because the video signal carried by HDMI is in fact single-link DVI. That's how I'm using my 52" LCD HDTV as my monitor. Works perfectly. The only advantage to using a video card with HDMI is if you want to carry audio and video all in one cable. (HDMI = DVI + audio).

Svideo is very low quality regardless of the settings on the computer. Some video cards support HDMI output as well as component video output. You'll probably have to get one of those kind of video cards for your computer.
