How to get download movie to play on my dvd player?

I have no problem with mpegs but I just downloaded a full movie in a avi (divx) format, it went to cd ok I used a cd-r but it won't play on my dvd player, I get 'unknown ...show more

Try putting the disc in a very cheap DVD player, that should show you if it works.

Your DVD player probably does not play VCDs. VCDs are poor quality for a movie anyway; invest in a DVD burner.
