What's the most efficient way for a high school senior to make money the summer before college?

• I'll be heading off to college next year, and I'm beginning to consider the best way to earn money for my freshman year and beyond. I realize working an hourly wage job may be a useful lesson in responsibility, but the entrepreneur in me would much rather start a project myself and see it through to fruition than work for someone else. I don't mind putting in the effort, so if you have any innovative ways for a college-bound student to start a business, please fire away! I've run my own business before (multiple italian ice stands across the state) but I'm looking to take the scope a step or two further this summer. Any and all help would be appreciated!

  The guaranteed most effective and efficient way to earn money is to get a job. Or two. You will have somebody paying you for your time. Now, the entrepreneur, independent spirit and dreamer in you would need to: 1.  Analyse your skill set.  (You either can write code, run a summer preschool camp, or an Italian ice cream stand, but you probably can't do all of them well or efficiently.) 2.  Develop a business plan. 3.  Investigate possible laws you will run up against including licenses. 4.  Determine if you have financing or figure out financing. 5.  Implement your plan. 6.  Earn money - Before the end of the summer. While you are creating a ideal plan, you are not earning money and there are no guarantees of success.  Despite the gimmicks, there are no easy paths to earning money
