Do you need to change the gear box on a vw bora tdi if i re-map it to 165hp from 130hp?

i was thinnkin of buying a bora tdi for my next car do i need to bu a new gear box or clutch if i re-map it from 130 bhp to 165 bhp? cheers

Answer:
The additional torque may cause the stock clutch and pressure plate to wear out prematurely, but you don't NEED to replace them at the time of the re-map. How well the stock clutch holds up mainly depends on your driving style. EDIT: A clutch kit is cheap, usually between $300-400 including a new lightened flywheel. The labor to install it is another $400-500 usually, pretty intensive.

We run 250hp motors with about 240Nm on standard clutches.. All we do to the gearboxes is replace the rivets in the crownwheel with bolts.. Works a treat.. [email protected]
