Where can I find the cheapest trip to Orlando?

My family is planning a trip to Orlando, FL. I can't find prices for everyday items like milk and bread. Help?

  • Answer:

No, if you go to the supermarkets prices won't be drastically different. If you buy from any of Disney's little stores, then yes, they will be much higher! So just go to one of the local stores or Wal-Mart to purchase, they will be much the same. Here's a list of grocery stores near the Disney area: http://allearsnet.com/btp/grocery.htm

Supermarket prices on basic items don't vary much from state to state. As long as you shop at a major chain supermarket like Publix or Winn Dixie or Super Target then you will probably pay about the same as you pay at home. By all means avoid buying foods on WDW property. Bring food to the parks with you, leave an ice chest with lunch out in your car for a parking lot tailgate party, even leave WDW property for lunch at Waffle House. If you MUST buy food at Disney, nip over to a hotel and buy a box of crackers, quart of milk, and package of cheese at the gift/convenience shop instead of paying $8 for a small burger and fountain drink. It's easy to spend $20 per person per day just on soft drinks, so start training your family right now to not even ask for souveniers, pretzels, Mickey bars, and so on.

Milk is about $4.25 a gallon. The price of bread is based on what you buy. A white loaf of store brand can be a dollar. Pepperidge Farm farmhouse bread is about $3 a loaf. I feed my family of four for about $90 a week.

Find a food chain in that area (Smiths, Albertsons, or whatever they have on the east coast) then go to the stores web site, put in the area code for orlando and you can view their weekley mail ad online and see the prices

BURNO

Don't worry about the prices of food as long as you avoid buying them from around the Disney area. Try buying in Orlando, or a small town before you get close to Disney World.
